Fibrations and degenerations of Calabi-Yau varieties via tropical geometry

Abstract: One expectation from the Doran-Harder-Thompson is that certain degenerations of Calabi-Yau's should correspond under mirror symmetry to fibrations by lower dimensional Calabi-Yau's. I will make this expectation precise, and explain how to prove it under certain assumptions using the Gross-Siebert program. The proof uses an old result of Deligne-Illusie together with modern deformation theory from Chan-Leung-Ma and Felten-Filip-Ruddat.
