Abstract: We study a variational model for ferromagnetic elastomers featuring a mixed Eulerian-Lagrangian formulation. The magnetic variable is defined on the deformed configuration in the actual space and the saturation constraint involves the Jacobian determinant of deformations. First, in the case for purely elastic materials, we discuss the existence of equilibrium configurations and we investigate the model under quasistatic evolution in the rate-independent setting. Subsequently, we address the extension of the existence theory for the static problem to a framework allowing for cavitation. The talk is partly based on joint work with Manuel Friedrich (FAU Erlangen-Nuernberg) and Carlos Mora-Corral (Universidad Autonoma de Madrid).
