Warped Flux Compactifications: Effective Potentials and Numerical Geometry
Severin Lüst (Paris, LPTHE)
Abstract: In this talk, I will discuss two complementary approaches to warping in Type IIB flux compactifications. Such compactifications are a central ingredient in many string theory de Sitter constructions. First, I will describe a systematic derivation of warping corrections to the effective scalar potential and their implications for F-term de Sitter uplifting, highlighting the challenges for control in KKLT and the LVS. I will then present numerical constructions of warped Calabi–Yau backgrounds using physics-informed neural networks to approximate Ricci-flat metrics, harmonic fluxes, and warp factors. Applications to the Dwork family of quintics provide a concrete setting to explore warped throats and the singular bulk problem.
