Kanev and Todorov type surfaces in toric 3-folds
Julius Giesler (Tübingen)
Abstract: In this talk we show at the example of some surfaces of general type, so called Kanev and Todorov type surfaces, how to construct minimal and canonical models of hypersurfaces in toric varieties. We relate the plurigenera and the Kodaira dimension of the hypersurfaces to a special polytope, known as the Fine interior. Then we study singularities of the canonical models of Kanev/Todorov type surfaces via toric geometry, degenerations of these surfaces and investigate some Hodge theoretic consequences.
