A Brief Introduction to Spatial Point Processes
Mathis Rost (PhD student)
Thu May 22, 14:30-15:00 (7 months ago)
Abstract: In this talk, I’ll give a brief and, of course, mostly visually pleasing introduction to my research area: spatial statistics. We’ll begin with some general characteristics and a few real-world examples where point process models naturally arise. I’ll then introduce some key concepts, like intensity-based models and conditional intensity-based models, which form the backbone of spatial statistics. Toward the end, I’ll touch on one of the topics from my first research paper (don’t worry, I’ll keep the math simple!).
