Abstract: We investigate a class of multiterm time-fractional diffusion equations. The problem is reformulated as a perturbed parabolic Volterra equation, which allows the use of Laplace transform techniques and resolvent estimates. This approach is flexible and covers a wide range of anomalous diffusion models with combined fractional and classical memory effects. We also discuss implications for the design and analysis of high-order accurate contour integral methods for such equations.
