[POSTPONED] Intersection of quadrics

Abstract: We will talk about relation between quadrics and polytopes. It turns out that any generic polytope defines a system of quadrics in R^n and C^n. Moreover, topology of these quadrics are determined by combinatorial structures of the polytopes. We will consider some examples and will discuss some manifolds ( defined by system of quadrics) with highly nontrivial topology. If time permits, we will talk about relations between toric manifolds and quadrics.
