Abstract: In the first talk, I begin with a historical review of perfectoid geometry. Then I talk about the definition of perfectoid rings and tilting operations. Some basic examples are examined. I also show how to use perfectoid rings by introducing recent results obtained by several people. I end with a remark on a classical result on valuation rings.
