Elliptic curves over fields with finitely generated Galois groups

Abstract: Let K be a field in characteristic 0 with $Gal (\bar{K}/K)$ finitely generated. What can be said about the group of rational points of an elliptic curve E over K? I will discuss various approaches to this problem, via algebraic geometry, algebraic combinatorics, and analytic number theory.
