Galois groups, differential equations, and special functions

Abstract: I will outline a path through Galois groups, differential Galois groups, and transcendence of functions to some new applications to old functions, including the non-integrability in finite terms of Lambert's W function, algebraic independence of solutions of Kepler's equation of 1607, and exponential-algebraic independence of Bessel functions. All these terms will be explained so no prior knowledge is required!
