Fusion surface models: 2+1d lattice models from fusion 2-categories
Kansei Inamura (Tokyo)
Abstract: We will discuss a systematic way to construct (2+1)-dimensional lattice models with finite generalized symmetries described by fusion 2-categories. These models are 2+1d analogues of the 1+1d anyon chain models and are dubbed fusion surface models. We will also see that our models naturally arise from 4d topological field theories put on a slab. Examples of fusion 2-categories include modular tensor 1-categories that describe the symmetries generated by anyons. Thus, the fusion surface models with such symmetries may provide natural candidates for chiral topological phases on the lattice.
