Abstract: We will embark on a journey through the realms of cobordism groups in IIB string theory, taking into account the duality symmetry of the theory. These cobordism groups are interesting because they can be used systematically to predict new generalized symmetries of IIB supergravity and the corresponding objects that break them in IIB string theory. In this way we are able to recover many known branes and a few unknown ones. We will describe some particularly interesting examples, discuss the connection to topological couplings and anomalies in IIB string theory, and time permitting, I will comment on the likely fate of non-invertible symmetries in quantum gravity.
