Abstract: We review known constructions of non-invertible duality defects for general QFTs and explain their emergence in the context of theories of class S. This leads us to defining the of "rank" of a non-invertible symmetry. We explain to compute it and its impact the fusion algebra.

Based on upcoming work with A. Antinucci, G. Galati and G. Rizi.
