Mathics: a free and open source alternative to Mathematica

Abstract: Mathics is an Open Source implementation of the Wolfram Language (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfram_Language), including a Python library, a command-line interpreter, and a Django-based web interface. In this talk, we are going to present the status of the Mathics project, including some details of the recent release 1.1 and future perspectives.
