Abstract: Given a divided power ring $(A,I)$, the crystalline site is defined using divided power thickenings over $(A,I)$. Analogously, given a prism $(A,I)$, the prismatic site is defined using "prismatic thickenings" over $(A,I)$. The goal of this talk is to define prisms and develop their basic properties.
