Abstract: In this talk I will start with a general overview on mean-field models for pedestrian dynamics, outlining the challenges in the derivation and the analysis of the corresponding PDE models. I will then illustrate how this continuum description can be used to understand the effect of inflow and outflow rates as well as the geometry on pedestrian density profiles. Finally I will present how the Bayesian framework can be used to identify parameters in mean field models and quantify uncertainty in those estimates using trajectory data.
