Abstract: In 1987, Elkies proved that an elliptic curve defined over the field of rational numbers has infinitely many primes of supersingular reduction. I will discuss a generalization of this result to the case of special cyclic covers of the projective line ramified at 4 points. This talk is based on joint work in progress with Wanlin Li, Rachel Pries and Yunqing Tang.
