Abstract: The term "Drinfeld's lemma" refers to several related statements about the behavior of etale fundamental groups under formation of products in mixed or positive characteristic. We discuss statements of this form in the contexts of schemes (after Drinfeld and Lau), perfectoid spaces (after Scholze-Weinstein, Carter-Kedlaya-Zabradi, and Fargues-Scholze), and F-isocrystals (work in progress).
