Confining Strings in a Gapless Environment
Giovanni Galati (Free University of Brussels)
Abstract: In this talk, I will discuss confined strings in a gapless four-dimensional theory, focusing on finite-tension string solutions of the CP1 non-linear sigma model. I will analyze quantum fluctuations around these configurations, derive the corresponding spectrum, and study its properties. I will then show how one can use these results to compute various observables like the quantum corrections to the ground-state energy and the effective string width. Through the discussion, I will compare these findings with the usual predictions of effective string theory.
