Lecture held in 133.

Abstract: Yang–Mills theory is a quantum field theory that describes interaction be- tween elementary particles using path integrals. In the case of a spacetime of dimension 3 or higher, the rigorous construction of these integrals remains a central open problem in mathematics. However, the case of dimension 2 has been studied successfully by several authors. In this talk, I will start with a brief introduction to Yang–Mills theory, explain the specificity of the two dimensional case, and present a recent contribution to the study of the two dimensional Yang–Mills measure on compact surfaces in collaboration with Nguyen Viet Dang (IRMA, Strasbourg).
