Abstract: I review the theory of topological response in modern materials (including the three - dimensional topological semimetals and the two - dimensional systems with quantum Hall effect) as well as in the elementary particle physics. The proposed theory is based on the specific version of Wigner - Weyl calculus developed for the quantum field theory during the recent years by the group working in Ariel University, Israel.
