Nonuniqueness in mean curvature flow and Ricci flow
Sigurd Angenent (University of Wisconsin–Madison)
Abstract: Reporting on joint work with Ilmanen and Velazquez, I will present examples of smooth solutions to MCF in $\mathbb R^{d}$ with $d\in\{4, 5, 6, 7, 8\}$ that form a conical singularity after which they allow many different forward smooth continuations. I will also show similar results obtained with Knopf concerning the Ricci flow in dimensions $5, \dots, 9$.

Online Seminar "Geometric Analysis"
Series comments: We discuss recent trends related to geometric analysis in a broad sense. The general idea is to solve geometric problems by means of advanced tools in analysis. We will include a wide range of topics such as geometric flows, curvature functionals, discrete differential geometry, and numerical simulation.
