Abstract: The vortex filament equation is a geometric flow describing thin vortex filaments in an ideal fluid. Work of de la Hoz, Vega and collaborators showed that it admits weak solutions whose point trajectories exhibit fractal behavior. We study the surfaces swept out by these solutions and the geometry of the resulting fractal structures.
