Discrete Geometric Analysis Applied to Materials Science
Professor MOTOKO KOTANI (Tohoku University, Japan)
Abstract: Discrete geometric analysis is a discrete version of geometric analysis. In the digitalized society, how we understand phenomena in the physical world via their realization in the cyber world. Discrete geometric analysis aims to bridge between continuum and discrete, and to understand the hidden phenomena in discretized data. In the lecture I would like to share with you my study to develop discrete geometric analysis and its application to materials science.

ITB Mathematics Distinguished Lecture Series
Series comments: We aim to bring prominent mathematicians exploring the role of mathematics from various fields, in an intriguing style. The online lectures address quite broad audience, from mathematics students (advanced undergraduate to graduate ones), as well as mathematicians in Indonesia, and our neighboring countries, or even beyond our region. With this lecture series we hope to foster and promote research culture, as well as to highlight the prominent role of mathematics in shaping future society.
