An explicit bound on the Dehn function of a subgroup of a hyperbolic group

Abstract: Hyperbolic groups are characterised by having a linear Dehn function. This property does not pass to finitely presented subgroups, by work of Brady. This opens the question of what Dehn functions of finitely presented subgroups of hyperbolic groups can be. In this talk I will detail what is known and give an explicit upper bound for the Dehn function of Brady’s example.
