Infinite dimensional equivariant commutative algebra
Andrew Snowden (University of Michigan)
Abstract: Certain infinite variable polynomial rings equipped with actions of large groups (like the infinite symmetric group or the infinite general linear group) behave in many ways like finitely generated algebras; for instance, one sometimes has an "equivariant noetherian" property. I will discuss some deeper parallels with commutative algebra, and how these somewhat exotic objects can be applied to study classical questions.

You have to register to attend the seminar; the registration link is on the webpage. But you only have to register once. Once you register for a seminar, your registration will be carried over (in theory!) to future seminars.
