Partial group cohomology
Victor Torres Castillo
Abstract: Partial groups were introduced by Chermak as a tool to approach the issue of the existence and uniqueness of a centric linking system for a saturated fusion system. Roughly speaking, a partial group is a set with a partially defined product (you can still multiply certain strings of elements together, but not always). In this talk, we will discuss the main similarities and differences between the categories of partial groups and (actual) groups. Then, we will introduce the cohomology of a partial group inspired by the Gabriel-Zisman cohomology, as defined by Galvez-Neumann-Tonks. The talk is based on a joint work in progress with Cihan Okay and Igor Sikora.
