Abstract: We explain the Buchsbaum-Rim multiplicity as the Euler-Poincare characteristic of an “ordinary” Koszul complex. This provides a generalization of Serre’s formula for the Hilbert-Samuel multiplicity in terms of the length of the Koszul homologies. The talk is based on a joint work with: Viniçius Bouça, Thiago Fiel and Jose Naeliton.
