Abstract: The state of Karnataka conducted a survey to estimate the total COVID-19 burden in the state between September 03-16, 2020. The survey was unique in two main aspects, namely, it jointly estimated both current and past infection in the state and secondly the survey covered the entire geographical region of the state, a first in India.

We shall discuss the design of the survey, provide a brief summary of the findings, and discuss in detail the probability models/statistical methodology used to obtain the estimates.
