Abstract: The quantum dynamics of N non-relativistic bosons is described by the Schroedinger equation with pair interaction. The complexity of solutions generally grow exponentially in the particle number, so for large N coarse-grained or effective descriptions are desirable. From a mathematical physics point of view, one aims at deriving effective equations in a rigorous way, i.e., proving that their solutions converge to the solutions of the Schroedinger equation in a suitable topology. In this talk, we will consider the dynamics in the mean-field limit, which has been studied extensively in the last two decades. I will present an overview about the research goals and results, and then specifically discuss recent results of my collaborators and myself on a perturbative expansion of solutions to the Schroedinger equation.
