Abstract: Understanding the origin of fermion masses and mixing angles remains a central challenge in particle physics and string phenomenology. In this talk, I will describe recent progress on deriving realistic Standard Model spectra and flavour physics from heterotic string compactifications on Calabi-Yau manifolds.
