Abelian varieties not isogenous to Jacobians over global fields

Abstract: Let K be the algebraic closure of a global field of any characteristic. For every $g>3$ we prove that there exists a g-dimensional abelian variety over K which is not isogenous to a Jacobian. This is joint work with Jacob Tsimerman.
