Growth, expansion and escape in groups

Harald Helfgott (Prof.)

Wed Apr 15, 15:00-16:00 (2 weeks from now)
Lecture held in Online only.

Abstract: Prof. Harald Helfgott is a leading mathematician who made fundamental contribution to number theory, group theory, and additive combinatorics. He is widely known for his proof of the ternary Goldbach conjecture, as well as for foundational contributions to the study of growth and expansion phenomena in groups. In this talk, he will discuss growth and expansion in groups, including progress toward the celebrated Babai conjecture on the diameters of finite simple groups.
