Abstract: After having spent about eight months doing a research internship in the pharma industry, I want to share my experience of quite a different world compared to academia. I will give an overview of the Nobel-prize-winning AlphaFold model - an AI that predicts protein structures - discuss the hype it caused in biotech, and why even TikTok has a connection to this topic.
