Strict Tessellations of Polytopes: From Polygons to Higher Dimensions

Gustav MÄrdby (Chalmers University of Technology)

Wed Apr 1, 14:30-15:00 (ended 6 hours ago)

Abstract: Strict tessellations occur when copies of a polytope tile Euclidean space in a very special way. In this talk, we ask: which polytopes admit such tessellations? We present the complete classification in two dimensions and indicate how the problem extends to higher dimensions. Finally, we explain how these polytopes naturally appear in spectral geometry.
