Abstract: My aim with this talk is to illustrate the versatility of the Schrödinger representation of the Heisenberg group. I will try to motivate its existence from a simple inverse problem for radars, and if there is time then I will also explain some connections to theta functions in analytic number theory. No prior knowledge of any of these things will be assumed.
