On embeddings of $\mathbb{Q}$ into finitely generated and finitely presented groups

Abstract: We consider embeddings of the additive group of rational numbers $\mathbb{Q}$ into certain finitely generated and finitely presented groups. In particular, problems of M. Bridson and R. de la Harpe from 1999 about such embeddings are discussed.
