Abstract: I will discuss work in progress that constructs a categorification of Atiyah-Singer index theory. My main theorem shows that these new, categorical indices can be organized into an invertible TQFT, which can algebraically be viewed as a categorical group representation of a cobordism category. If time permits, I will outline how to compute the categorical index topologically.
