Exploring Topos Theory: From Generalized Spaces to Universal Algebra
Virgile Constantin (EPFL)
Abstract: Topos theory, a branch of category theory, provides a framework for understanding mathematical structures from a variety of perspectives. We explore three viewpoints through which toposes can be understood: as generalized spaces, as universes of sets, and as generalized theories. This is an introductory talk aimed to a general audience (although reviewing the definition and basic examples of categories will certainly be very helpful!).

West Switzerland Geometry, Algebra and Topology Seminar
Series comments: Introduced by Bruno Luiz Santos Correia, this seminar series focuses on talks from young (masters/phd/early-career) researchers who study/work in Switzerland.
All talks in this seminar series are related to topics in Geometry, Algebra and/or Topology.
If you are a researcher in Switzerland who would like to provide a talk at this seminar, please contact one of the organiser. (Alex Bishop or Bruno Correia)
