Aspects of c=1 string theory

Abstract: I will give an overview of some recent work on c=1 string theory. Depending on the interest and time available, I will elaborate on either non-perturbative effects in the closed string sector due to D-instantons, or a perturbative treatment of the long string sector, from the worldsheet and from the dual matrix model perspective.
