Initial Conditions for Inflation

Abstract: Cosmic inflation makes the universe flat and homogeneous, but under what conditions inflation starts? I will discuss analytical results that show, with weak assumptions, that inflation starts somewhere and some theorems in 2+1 and 3+1 dimensions that support the de Sitter no-hair conjecture.
