Abstract: The focus of this talk is to prove the existence of the Haar measure. The main result is the following: For every locally compact Hausdorff topological group there exists a non-trivial left translation-invariant measure on the Borel algebra (with even more nice properties which we will discuss). That might sound a bit intimidating, but we will make it. I will try to include examples and if we have time, we can discuss convolution in this general setting.
