Abstract: In this talk, I will talk about restriction problems of general linear groups over local and global fields, surrounding Gan-Gross-Prasad conjectures. In particular, I will discuss a local conjecture on predicting the branching laws of the non-tempered representations arisen from Arthur packets and my recent work on a proof of the conjecture. Along the way, I will also discuss some significant properties of restrictions such as multiplicity one, Ext-vanishing, projectivity and indecomposability.
