Conservation laws and generalized optimal transport

Abstract: In this talk, we connect Lax’s entropy-entropy flux in conservation laws with optimal transport type metric spaces. Following this connection, we further design variational discretizations for conservation laws and mean field control of conservation laws. In particular, we design unconditionally stable time discretization methods that are easy to implement.
