Abstract: We investigate the distribution of rational points on certain biprojective varieties arising in recent work of Hassett, Pirutka and Tschinkel. The method involves a combination of tools from algebraic geometry (the fibration method and Brauer--Manin obstruction) and analytic number theory (detecting the solubility of fibres with character sums).
