Abstract: The Inverse problem for the Boltzmann equation finds applications in many fields such as optical imaging. It seeks to reconstruct certain physical properties of a medium from the data measured on the boundary. In this talk, I will discuss an inverse problem for the Boltzmann equation with nonlinear collision operator. We show that the collision kernel can be reconstructed from the incoming-to-outgoing mappings on the boundary of the domain. This talk is based on a joint work with Gunther Uhlmann (UW) and Yang Yang (MSU).
