Asymptotic counting of minimal surfaces and of surface groups in symmetric spaces

Abstract: The recent preprint by Calegari, Marques, and Neves introduces a definition of "entropy" to count minimal surfaces in negatively curved 3-manifolds and a rigidity result characterizing manifolds of constant curvature. I will explain the sketch of the proof as well as other results of the same type.
