Representations of Compact Special Linear Groups of Degree Two

Abstract: Let $\mathcal{O}$ be the ring of integers of a non-Archimedean local field and $\wp$ be its maximal ideal. In this talk, our focus is on the construction of the continuous complex irreducible representations of the group $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathcal{O})$ and to describe their representation growth. We will also discuss some results about group algebras of $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathcal{O}/{\wp}^r)$ for large $r$.
