 um Mechanics\n\n\nAbstract\nIn this talk\, we will derive a nonlinear visc
 oelastic model for fibre-reinforced materials based on the kinematic assum
 ption that the deformation gradient can be multiplicatively decomposed int
 o viscous and elastic components\, i.e.\, F=Fe Fv. The model is thermodyna
 mically consistent and the evolution equation of the viscous deformation w
 ill be derived by combining suitable constitutive prescriptions with balan
 ce equations. We will show that\, when external sources are absent\, an Es
 helbian-like torque drives the passive reorientation of the fibres. During
  the talk\, some issues underlying the definition of anisotropic and inela
 stic models will be discussed\, including the evolution of the symmetry gr
 oup of the material response due to the inelastic relaxation. Finally\, so
 me prototype boundary value problems will be presented with the intent of 
 highlighting the best experimental procedure to evaluate the constitutive 
 coefficients of such a model.\n
