This includes iCLIP\, a method combining mul ti-step biochemistry and computational biology to obtain a comprehensive m ap of protein-RNA interactions within cells. I will also present our study of disease-causing mutations in TDP-43\, a protein that is often mutated in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The mutations tend to be located within intrinsically disordered regions\, and I will present the roles of these r egions in fine-tuning the RNA binding properties and functions of the prot ein. Moreover\, I will present our work on the roles that transposable ele ments play in RNP assembly.
